Wow, a very compelling read!
I loved this book! I noticed it was almost completely from the hero’s perspective and that was a really inventive touch to this story, although the feelings of the heroine are not completely forgotten. I loved the fact that the story is placed in Indonesia and the names of some dishes had a rather ‘coming home’ feeling and nostalgia because my dad served in the Dutch Army in Indonesia, and he loved some spicy dishes!) The book rather focussed on Max, about his feelings about his unsecure future and his dreams about Nikki, his dream woman, it also gave a great insight in the feelings of Nikki, a strong and successful businesswoman and never shy of another business opportunity but with the intention to help people. She however does not trust easily as she has been burned before.
This is what the book’s about: Max helps Nikki Lucas flee her hight society wedding by whisking her away when she asks him to. Suddenly he, as he guards his privacy, is accused of having an affair with the bride in a thorough media scandal. When the media scandal settles down, he escaped to a remote island and he comes face-to-face with Nikki. They have an undeniable connection and chemistry together, but due to the media scandal, she is completely off-limits. Yet as the sun sets in paradise, both are struggling to resist that connection…
